Some fun ones this month! We had a few real life tie-ins which both slightly backfired. We listened to Babe the Sheep-Pig on audio before attending our first county 4H fair. After making our rounds at the fair, PB asked if we could go see the sheep-pig show next. If only. LOL.
Also, in preparation to see a play of Aladdin we read the Arabian Nights’ version retold by Philip Pullman… turned out the play was an abridged Disney version, which Preschool Bookworm has never seen. He was pretty confused and on our way home told me, “Mama, that was a pretty lot different than the one we know.” For real.
The Giraffe, the Pelly, and Me by Roald Dahl
Aladdin and the Enchanted Lamp by Philip Pullman
26 Fairmount Avenue by Tomie dePaola (biography, Newbery Honor)
Stallion by Starlight (Magic Treehouse)
Three of our audiobooks were those that I snagged through Audible’s summer sale at $2 a piece! Here’s my short list of favorites— sale runs through 8/27/17.
Abiyoyo This is a picture book, but I include it because it’s taken such a hold on my bookworms! They have listened to it countless times and are now acting out the story, calling out “Zoop!” and singing Abiyoyo to an imaginary giant!
