Favorite Family Read Alouds of the Year

Surprisingly enough, I don’t set family read aloud goals. We just kind of read as much as we can, from a variety of genres. My main objective with family read alouds is to connect with my kids over stories and hook them on the JOY of reading. To that end, we read books that catch their interest. My strategy often involves reading together the first of a series and then setting them loose on the rest, whether in paper or audio format.

On New Year’s Eve, per our tradition, we voted on our favorite family read alouds from the year prior. Here’s how the votes came out:
