Share the LOVE of Reading: Valentine’s Day Bookmark FREE Printable

My bookworms and I were invited to a toddler Valentine’s Day party at a friend’s home today. It was adorable and chaotic. Preschool Bookworm was the oldest as a brand new three year old, and there were NINE kiddos in…

Update: My Three Year Old Bookworm

Before my eyes I have watched my tiny 6 pound peanut become a “big kid.” My husband reminds me that we haven’t even gotten to the part I was most excited about before becoming a parent. I actually used to…

    Happy Third Birthday, Preschool Bookworm!

If you’ve been a Librarian in the House reader for a while, you may remember that I create infographics for my kids’ birthdays. (Here’s the link to Baby Bookworm’s first birthday infographic, published almost two months ago now! Whaat?!)  I…

Alexander and the Wind-Up Mouse: Among the Lionni Classics #tbt

Before Leo Lionni was an acclaimed author, he was a grandfather on a tedious train ride with two restless grandchildren to entertain. He tore pieces from his magazine and created a little story to pass the time: Little Blue and…

Redeeming a Bad Day: Five Books to Turn Around One of “Those” Days

Friday was one of “those” days for me. It involved a lost shoe, a band aid, cupcakes, and poop (we’re potty training, but don’t “those” days always involve poop?!). If I tried to explain it, you’d probably nod your head sympathetically but…

    February Bookworm Bingo FREE Printable

The weirdest thing just happened. I went to schedule a play date for next week and my calendar indicated that NEXT WEEK IS FEBRUARY! The days are long and the months are short, no? Anyhow, this is a great time to…

    The Timeless Snowy Day #tbt

When you’re two years old and the last snowfall was eleven months ago, news of a blizzard is HUGE! Last weekend we enjoyed (some enjoyed more than others) 20″ of snow! It was just as magical and as curious to…

What I Learned From Cleaning the Bookshelf in My Childhood Bedroom

I’ve been settled in my house for eight years now. I hardly expected a call from my dad, requesting my assistance in cleaning out my childhood bedroom. What could I have possibly missed after years of mysteriously unearthed boxes making…

    Good Dog, Good Book #tbt

Ever wonder what pet dogs do while their owners are out? How about if a dog were left to babysit? Alexandra Day’s (nearly) wordless fantasy book has some hilarious ideas! And it turns out, a canine who knows how to…

Potty Learning: Not Your Regular Books

I’ve been intimidated by the thought of potty training since my pre-mommy days. Being the reader that I am, I have tried to research my way through. I’ve read MANY articles and books. And yet, we aren’t following any particular “plan.” We’re…

Leo & the Late Blooming Pep Talk #tbt

I’m not sure if this story is more encouraging to Mama Bookworm or to my little bookworms. We are in week one of potty learning in our house, and this book has been a balm to my worried mind: “Then…

A perfect book for patterns! My youngest (3.5) is A perfect book for patterns! My youngest (3.5) is loving this book, and I’m happy that she’s playing with patterns! There are several explored in this short book, with the opportunity to guess the next item in the pattern on the following page.

Our math curriculum works with patterns early on (LOVE @rightstartmathematics ) but we are still just providing some exposure for my little one. We will revisit this one later on, too.

📓We love @rightstartmathematics at this age as it shifts to be student self-study with self assessment baked in. We have used this curriculum from kindergarten and every level has been so good! (Spoken by an English major/librarian/non-mathy person 😅)
📓Excited to add logic to the mix with The Fallacy Detective
📓We are back to our old favorite Nature Journaling Through the Years from @raisinglittleshoots
