Teatime Birthday Party

Today I had the joy of throwing my niece a “girls only” tea party for her 4th birthday. Normally with winter birthdays and boys, I felt out of my element at first but I quickly adjusted. 🙂 This was a very last minute gathering and with a small guest list (4 little girls (cousins), ages 2-5 and the grandmoms). I kept the activities simple and girly and it was a hit!

First, as the girls arrived they were invited to select a flower from our fresh flower arrangement to clip in their hair. (Let’s not talk about how long it took me to figure out how to put flowers in little girls’ hair! The night before the party I went through several ideas and frantic text messages to friends with girls! LOL) Turns out we were able to slide the stems into simple clips. Easy peasy!

Next, the girls chose a craft to complete:

  1. Simple beading of pony beads onto yarn. I recommend yarn laces with tips for easy beading, or large (blunt!) embroidery needles. A muffin tin helps keep the beads contained and looks pretty (I’m obsessed with my silicone muffin tin)! This is so basic, but I was surprised by how much they loved it (and didn’t want to stop! I may have sent extra beads and yarn home. Hehe)

2. “Fancy Sticker Books!” The sticker books were so incredibly easy and entertained the girls for a long time! I just printed out a cover page, then cut 3 pieces of pretty cardstock in half, folded them, and stitched them together with embroidery floss (you could totally staple them). I got various stickers at the dollar store.

After craft time, the birthday girl opened her first gift, which was The Tea Party Game. The sweetest little game in which the object is to be the first to create your place setting.

Next, the girls drank their tea and ate their snacks while I read a story– Double Pink was the birthday girl’s top choice from my selections. Such a cute book about a little girl who loves pink so much that she ends up with a 100% pink room from top to bottom, and she also dresses in all pink with a pink wig and pink makeup covering her face… and her mom cannot find her because she blends right in!

A perfectly lovely time celebrating this sweet little girl! Now if you need me, I’ll be reading Double Pink on repeat 😉
